Export of Japanese Industrial Sewers for Jan. ~ Jun. 2008 Recorded 139,400 Units

Decreasing 16.6% in Quantity Compared with
The Same Period of The Previous Year

As regards the export of industrial sewing machine for the first half of the year from January to June, 2008, JASMA (Japan Sewing Machinery Manufacturers Association) released the quantity which compiled the Customs Clearance Statistics by Customs and Tariff Bureau of the Finance Ministry.
According to the information, it recorded 139,400 units showing decrease of 16.6% in quantity compared with the same period of the previous year.
The breakdown of the export quantity of the industrial sewing machines are as follows;
Single needle straight sewer for fabrics recorded 38,800 units showing drastic decrease of 34.9% and for other materials recorded 3,700 units showing decrease of 31.5% compared with the last year.
Overlock machine recorded 17,600 units showing increase of 15.0%, compared with the previous year, and other special machine recorded 79,400 units showing decrease of 8.8% compared with the preceding year.
Total 7,713 million yen worth of parts for industrial sewing machine were exported showing decrease of 25.7% compared with the previous year.
